Scar

Scar of being born disabled

Is a rough road to travel

Features that make you unique

Courage in beauty

Victory over defeat

A rip in confidence

Only to stand proud

Conqueror weakness

Become strong

Stand tall

Imperfection of your perfection

Of who you are

  1. Hi, Susan. Thanks for fixing your link! 🙂
    I love this, especially:
    “A rip in confidence

    Only to stand proud”

This feels almost like someone unzipping a costume that is too big, too heavy to bear, and stepping out of it, to stand proud and be him/herself. Perfect.

    1. I don’t, but some people do. My Son has Downs Syndrome and he lives life like there is no tomorrow, he has achieved so much in his life, he inspires me to reach out for my goals in life, and then there are those unfortunate few who are healthy and able and regard any form of disability as a ‘scar’. This is what I meant.

    1. Thank you for your beautiful comment. My Son gives me hope, he inspires me to write. He has Downs Syndrome. I not sure if you read my Poem ‘Cheeze’, it’s him in the picture. I have seen him achieve so much in his life when Doctors said otherwise. A true inspiration.
